Questo progetto è dedicato alla vita e alle opere della 'patafisica belga: Odette Blavier (1926-2003), bibliotecaia e collagista.
Ho incontrato per la prima volta, Odette Blavier e suo marito André Blavier il 7 novembre del 1996 , a Verviers, Belgio, al Café du Théâtre. Diventiamo subito amici e la loro amicizia arricchirà profondamente la mia esperienza artistica.
Qualche tempo dopo il nostro incontro chiedo ad Odette di mostrarmi i suoi Collage e decido subito di aiutarla ad organizzarne la sua prima mostra. „Soyez Réalistes - Demandez l’impossible“... è l'esposizione che documenterà per la prima volta il genio sconosciuto di Odette Blavier.
Quando nel 2003 muore suo marito Andrè, Odette mi chiede di fotografare la loro casa.
Ogni stanza è un'istallazione: l'ingresso, le scale, la cucina, il soggiorno, le camere da letto, la biblioteca, la sala da bagno, la mansarda, il cortile...
Quadri, disegni, oggetti, e tanti libri...un teschio, rose rosse, souvenir, regali, manoscritti, registri... una varietà di oggetti mai vista, indescrivibile... e tutto amabilmente ordinato, André ed Odette sono entrambi bibliotecari.
Io cercherò di documentare tutto questo: in video, frammenti di interviste, foto. Da sola con una vecchia videocamera, inizio a filmare questa casa. In seguito sarei ritornata con una telecamera più professionale ...pensavo. Ma non è stato possibile. Odette muore improvvisamente, seduta alla sua scrivania.
Ritornerò lì per un'ultima volta, per filmare in panorama, lentamente tutte le stanze. In sottofondo si sentono voci e rumori di chi comincia già a smantellare tutto.
Dopo la morte di Odette, ho ricevuto in eredità tutto il suo lavoro artistico, diari, libri, appunti e l’archivio composto da ritagli di giornali di cui si serviva Odette per i suoi collage. Ad ottobre del 2008 presenterò questo progetto arricchito di un nuovo video al Museo di Arte Moderna di Verviers, Belgio
This project is dedicated to the life and works of the Belgium pataphysic, Odette Blavier (1926-2003), librarian and collagiste.
I met Odette Blavier and her husband André Blavier, for the first time on 7th November 1996, in Verviers, Belgium, at the Café du Théâtre. We immediately became friends and our friendship will enrich my artistic experience. Few months later I asked Odette to show me her collages and I decided to help her to organize her first exibition.
„Soyez Réalistes- Demandez l’impossible“... is the exposition that will document the unknown genius of Odette Blavier.
When in 2003 her husband died, Odette proposed me to take photos of their house. Each room was an installation: the hall, the stairs, the kitchen, the living room, the bedroom, their private library, the bathroom, the attic and the court...
Pictures, drawings, objects, a lot of books, a skull, red roses, souvenirs, presents, manuscripts, registers...a lot of different objects
and all these things were ordered carefully, Odette and André were both librarians.
I tried to document everything in videos, interview fragments and photos. I started to make short movies by myself using an old videocamera. After that I thought I would have come back with a more professional one...I thought. But it was not possible, because Odette died suddenly, sat on her desk with her head bowed. I came back in that house to film for the last time all the rooms, before the house were sold.
After Odette' s death I inherited all her artistic works, diaries, books, collages, press cuttings...In October 2008 I will show this project along with a new video at the Modern Art Museum in Verviers, Belgium.
